<br />
A few weeks ago I walked into Priceline intending to buy Nanoblur by Indeed Laboratories but ended up purchasing the Sanctuary Skin Perfecting BB Cream with SPF 15 by Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden. This product is designed to be worn as a primer or on it's own. I was after something that would create a flawless finish and the Sanctuary BB Cream promised this and was a lot less than the price of the Nanoblur. It must of been on sale at the time as on the Priceline website they are now both the same price.<br />
<br />
Sadly this Sanctuary BB Cream has been a big hit and miss for me! I've used it several times now and sometimes it looks amazing and other times it turns out horrible and blotchy. I have no idea why as I always just cleanse my face then apply it with my fingers. When it does turn out right it looks great, I love the colour of it (I purchased it in medium to dark) and it makes my skin look glowy. I also think it feels a lot more lightweight and less thick then some other BB creams on the market and I love that it has SPF. It doesn't provide full coverage of course, but it is the sort of product I would wear when I don't need a lot of make up or don't want to apply lots of different products. Because it's such a hit and miss though, I only reach for it when I have plenty of time to get ready so if it does turn out blotchy I can remove it and apply something else.<br />
<br />
The Sanctuary BB Cream has so many great reviews out there and I really wish it would work for me. I love the packaging it comes in and the product has a nice light fragrance. It is also not tested on animals which is a big positive. Hopefully I can figure out what causes it to go blotchy sometimes because it is a great cream when it works and is very affordable (or at least when it was on sale? I don't think I paid more than $15) but if I can't I definitely wouldn't purchase it again.<br />

I thought I'd share today this eye mask that I made to wear to a friend's 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' themed party. The original tutorial that I followed is by Trinkets in Bloom and can be found <a href="http://www.trinketsinbloom.com/breakfast-at-tiffanys-sleep-mask-diy/" target="_blank"><b>here</b></a>. I basically followed the same pattern but substituted the materials for similar ones that I had on hand/ could find at the craft store.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ3LLJykfYYyY6ptSISAJi-b0_V2KfqORERlnhTShvYLbE4THd6Pn5_68958Aei76o0FES27XKbcDfjOVQ1Hw05TBL-5vr9r_2VxVbXJOYQZrJzVPt78JHCnLWJo_a-P6BZaXr9KSOg7o/s1600/1479465_10152128302116223_924981726_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ3LLJykfYYyY6ptSISAJi-b0_V2KfqORERlnhTShvYLbE4THd6Pn5_68958Aei76o0FES27XKbcDfjOVQ1Hw05TBL-5vr9r_2VxVbXJOYQZrJzVPt78JHCnLWJo_a-P6BZaXr9KSOg7o/s1600/1479465_10152128302116223_924981726_n.jpg" height="526" width="740" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
For example, instead of using gold elastic I used a sequin string as ties and used small pieces of the same sequin string to form the eyebrows, which I glued down to the main part of the mask. I also ended up stitching around each felt eyelid to secure it to the mask as the glue wasn't holding very well. The fringe I used as eyelashes was a lot thinner compared to the one used by Trinkets in Bloom, but I think this gave it a really great eyelash effect.<br />
<br />
Whilst the masks look fairly complexed they didn't take long to make and paired with a long white shirt they make a good 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' style costume.<br />

<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
1. 'Flirt' Lipstick / I'm normally a red lipstick fan but right now I'm really loving pink lipstick. 'Flirt' is a really bright pink so for work days I sometimes just apply the matching pencil and then a pink sheer gloss on top.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
2. ModelCo Turbo Lash Curler / I can still remember in my teens being scared of using normal metal eyelash curlers. To me they look like a little torture weapon! Fast forward several years and there are now much more friendly to use heated eyelash curler options like the ModelCo Turbo Lash Curler.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
I purchased this ModelCo Turbo Lash Curler from Woolworths after a friend reccommended it. The brush heats up quickly and it is simple to use - you just comb your lashes like you are putting on mascara and it curls them. </div>
</div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
</div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
For me, curled lashed don't just look good they stop my lashes from stick out and batting against my glasses which can be terribly annoying so this ModelCo Turbo Lash Curl is super handy.</div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
3. Lash Xtend / I have several mascaras on rotation at the moment but this one is probably my favourite. It coats my lashes really well and makes them look long and thick without them all sticking together.<br />

<br />
Don't know what to wear with your denim shirt? I paired my denim shirt with animal print shorts today for a casual Sunday outfit. Another two options would be white trousers/jeans or a red skirt like below.<br />
<br />

<br />
Of course you could always go double blue denim and wear a blue denim shirt with blue denim jeans but I think that look can be really hard to pull off.<br />
Some tips if you do try it -<br />
<br />
1. Wear a slightly different hue on top and bottom so its not all one big block of colour<br />
2. Break up the denim look by wearing a plain coloured top (think black or white) under an open denim shirt.<br />
3. Accessorise with necklaces/ bracelets etc to inject other colours into the outfit.<br />

<br />
A short time ago I stumbled upon Frankbody on instagram. Frank is a coffee scrub - designed to target cellulite, stretch marks and a range of other skin issues (see the <b><a href="http://frankbody.com/" target="_blank">site here</a> </b>for details). I had been meaning to purchase this scrub but kept on forgetting until I was reminded about Frank when I was checking out <a href="http://www.essiebutton.com/" target="_blank"><b>Essie Button's</b></a> site.<br />
<br />
Essie Button is a fab beauty blog that I've just recently discovered. Essie Button also happens to have a recipe up on how to make your own coffee scrub. The scrubs have quite a different range of ingredients in them but they both have the same main ingredient - Coffee.<br />
<br />
I probably would give the DIY version a try but December is so busy so instead after having my memory jogged, I headed on over to the Frankbody website and purchased the new Frank scrub with coconut. The Frank scrub was less then $18 and shipping was free too (in Australia). I can't wait to give Frank a try!<br />
<br />
If you want to try out the DIY version you can find it <b><a href="http://www.essiebutton.com/2013/05/20/diy-coffee-body-scrub/" target="_blank">here on Essie Button</a> </b>or if you are lazy/too busy like me you can buy the <a href="http://frankbody.com/" target="_blank"><b>Frank scrub here</b></a>. I'll post a review of Frank once it arrives and I've had the chance to try it out a couple of times.<br />

<br />
Eyeshadow primer is something I was introduced to by a friend a few years ago and it became one of my essential makeup items. Eyeshadow primer is intended to create a smooth long lasting base for your eyeshadow. It will help stop the eyeshadow from creasing whilst also making the eyeshadow appear more vibrant. <br />
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
The eyeshadow primer I have been using lately is Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion which comes in an easy to squeeze tube. I like this tube application method as the other brand of primer I used previously came in a pot and I found it dried out before it was finished. The tube also makes it easy to dispense just the right amount that you need.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
It is one extra step when you do your makeup but it is so worth wearing primer. I find that when I wear the Primer Potion hours later my eyeshadow looks just the same as when I first applied it. I can completely understand why it is one of Urban Decay's most popular products.<br />
<br />
Steps for using eyeshadow primer:<br />
<br />
1. Using an eyeshadow brush or your fingers apply eyeshadow primer to eyelid covering from brow bone to lash line or just over the eyelid depending on where you will be applying eyeshadow.<br />
<br />
2. Apply eyeshadow as normal.<br />
<br />
3. Lastly apply eyeliner and mascara if you wish.<br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
So this weekend I found out the difference between an Eau de Toilette and an Eau de Parfum and thought I'd share it with you, in case you are as clueless as I was!<br />
<br />
The difference from what I now understand, is that Eau de Toilette has a lower concentration of fragrant oils than Eau de Parfum. Because of this the scent from an Eau de Toilette once sprayed will not last as long as that from an Eau du Parfum. Because of the higher percentage of fragrant oils Eau de Parfums tend to cost more than Ea du Toilettes.<br />
<br />
So which one should you buy? In my mind if I'm wearing a fragrance I want the scent to last all day so I'd prefer to wear a Eau du Parfum. However, if the cost of the Eau de Parfum was significantly higher then the Eau de Toilette I guess I would go with the Eau du Toilette and if possible carry a small atomizer in my handbag. That way if the scent wears off during the day I can re apply it.<br />
<br />

<br />
I've been burning lots of candles in our house lately and thought I'd share how I take care of them.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
1. Trim the wick: You don't have to buy an expensive wick trimmer you can just use a pair of scissors. Just make sure you don't trim the wick too far down or you will have trouble lighting the candle the next time. Ideal height is about 5mm. Trimming the wick will reduce the amount of soot created when the candle burns.<br />
<br />
2. Soot: If soot does accumulates in the candle jar you can remove it once the candle is extinguished (be careful the jar is no longer hot and make sure the wax has cooled), with moistened paper towel. Wait until the jar and candle are dry before relighting the candle. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
3. Storage: Stop 'candle sweat' by storing your candles when not in use, in a cool place out of sunlight.<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
And of course the most important thing to remember - never leave a burning candle unattended!<br />
<br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">SK II Facial Treatment Mask</span></div>
<br />
Last week I wrote about my first time using the SK II Signs Eye Mask so today I thought I'd share with you a post I wrote back in February about one of the first SK II products I ever used - the Facial Treatment Mask.<br />
<br />
<u>SK II Facial Treatment Mask Review [first posted Feb 2013]</u><br />
<br />
Now a bit of background on my skin, it has a few very dry spots so I've been looking for a product to help hydrate my skin and also I've been wanting to try SK II for quite awhile. When I spoke to the sales assistant at Sephora she recommended the SK II Facial Treatment Mask so I purchased a pack of 6.<br />
<br />
After using the SK II Facial Treatment Mask I'm completely enamoured with the product. It's one of the best skincare products I've used and my dry skin spots are now less obvious after I applied my first mask. Straight after using the mask my skin felt so nice, soft and super hydrated. This feeling lasted for the rest of the day. In fact my skin still felt soft and moisturised the day after using the mask. The packaging states 'ensure mask fits well onto skin, then relax', and I must admit using this mask was definitely a relaxing experience.<br />
<br />
The only slight issue, I had with this product is that you feel like you are 'wasting' some of the product as there is so much liquid left in the packet after you take the mask out.<br />
<br />
I'm planning on using these masks two times a week, I can't wait to see how my skin looks and feels in a few weeks time.<br />

Still unsure if I like this textured sugar look on my nails. It looks a bit like I painted my nails with liquid paper... but it does kind of look cool still... I think. This is with just two coats.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">SK II Signs Eye Mask</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I tried out the SK II Signs Eye Mask for the first time tonight. The eye mask is quite different from the SK II Facial Treatment Mask as it is a lot thicker, with a film cover on one side. There also isn't a lot of excess liquid like with the facial mask. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I found the eye mask very easy to use, as it adheres really well to the eye area. It was also quite soothing and you only need to wear it for 10 mins. The SK II Signs Eye Mask is suppose to reduce the visibility of dark circles, wrinkles and fine lines as well as brighten and hydrate the eye area. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After using the mask I definitely feel like the area around my eyes is more hydrated and I would use the mask again. </div>

Spending a relaxing Friday night in with my new gardenia candle burning whilst I watch YouTube clips and shop online for make up brushes.<br />
<br />
I just recently discovered Lauren Curtis' fabulous YouTube beauty channel and tonight watched her <a href="http://youtu.be/gkELwnplEmE" target="_blank">'Makeup Do's and Don'ts</a>' video. Sadly I have to admit I've been guilty in the past of some of the makeup don'ts featured, but Lauren's video taught me a lot. Fear not, I won't be repeating any of those mistakes!<br />

<br />
I still haven't had a chance to finish reading this month's Australian Vogue but I did come across an interesting article on <a href="http://www.fellt.com/" target="_blank"><b>FELLT</b></a> by the <a href="http://frockwriter.com/2013/10/erica-packer-bares-nearly-all-to-vogue-australia#disqus_thread" target="_blank"><b>Frockwriter </b></a> about Erica Packer and that gorgeous (and very see through!) Dior dress.<br />
<br />
I also spotted in this month's issue the <a href="http://www.nlpwomen.com/" target="_blank"><b>NLP</b></a> (previously known as ATG) bikini that I pre ordered several weeks ago. Really hoping it arrives soon as I'm the worst at waiting. I love online shopping but the satisfaction of buying something in person and getting it straight away is the best. I picked up at Myer last week these Diamond shorts by Paint It Red. They are actually really silver in person and have a fab sports luxe feel.<br />
<br />
Anyway I can't wait till I have some more time to relax, light my Diptyque candle and read the rest of the issue and paint my nails.<br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">Previously I posted on my old blog this Butter London 'Trout Pout' swatch and silver glitter accent nail. Months on I'm still loving the accent nail look so I thought I'd repost it.</span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">To do these nails I first I painted all my nails except my nail on my ring finger, with two coats of 'Trout Pout'. Once the nails were dry I painted my ring finger nail with one coat of nail polish. You can use clear nail polish for this nail since it will be covered in glitter but I couldn't find any in my stash so I just used the 'Trout Pout' polish. Whilst the nail polish was still wet I sprinkled on top silver glitter and gently patted it down.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; color: #666666;">The glitter will go everywhere, which is why you don't want the other nails to still be wet or glitter will stick to them too. Lastly I painted my ring finger nail with a clear nail polish sealant (again you can use a normal clear nail polish for this step) to make sure the glitter stays put.</span></div>

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">Essence express dry drops (Target) / OPI - My Private Jet</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I rediscovered one of my favourite nail polishes 'My Private Jet' by OPI in my stash last weekend and I've been wearing it ever since. Luckily I also managed to pick up more Essence express dry drops at Target, so doing my nails hasn't been a pain as these drops make your nail polish dry pretty much instantly!<br />

<span style="font-size: x-small;">One of my Ecoya candle jars repurposed</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
I loved the Ecoya candles I got a few months ago and after being used nearly every day they soon got used up. The candle jars looked too nice to throw out though, so I decided to keep them and repurpose them as pots. The stylish jars are perfect for plants that don't require much water as there are no drain holes so if you do this choose a cacti or succulent type plant.<br />
<br />
<u>How to remove candle wax from jar</u><br />
To prep the jars I removed the remaining candle wax by carefully pouring hot water in the jars and leaving them for a few hours. All the wax easily came away and I scooped it out then rinsed the jars.<br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">Mimco pouch (Mimco) / Crystal necklace (Tree Of Life)</span></div>
<br />
This weekend I've been listening to Lorde - Royals on repeat, exercising my butt off and eating healthy.. except for lunch yesterday when I indulged in fried ice cream amongst other things and last night when our girly catchup involved frozen yoghurt and pearls.<br />
<br />
This Mimco pouch I saw months ago during Vogue's Fashion Night Out but didn't purchase it and had immediate 'non buyers' regret. Last Thursday Mimco had 20% and luckily this beauty was still available.<br />
<br />
The crystal necklace was a spontaneous purchase from Tree of Life. I'm not a fan of the cord (which I've already cut and shortened) but love the crystal.<br />
